The Kansho Building housing the Municipal Library is in a corner of the old part of the city. It is a replica of the Meiji Era Kansho Elementary School building, the first French-style wooden structure to be built in this area. In the Modern Literature Library annex, you can see a number of works written by writers who had connections with this area.
