Hida has an inland-basin-type climate, so there is an extremely marked difference between day and night temperatures, and summer and winter temperatures, and the humidity is comparatively low. Hida is also blessed with abundant spring water, and so is suited to the raising of beef cattle, dairy cattle, pigs, and chickens. Beef cattle accounts for about 60% of livestock production, and among them, only high-quality cuts are shipped out under the Hida beef brand.
