Koito-ware began when the Kanamori family invited a potter from Kyoto to open a kiln at Koito-zaka during the 1620’s.
　This pottery uses a rough glaze known as “Irabo-yu”. The Irabo glaze comes in a number of colours: the most well-known brown colour, as well as a blue glaze, and an olive-green glaze.
